Graveyard Keeper 2 Farming & Fertilizer

The single most-asked farming question is also the most misunderstood: seeds do not multiply from Peat or Boost — they upgrade from Quality Fertilizer, one tier at a time. Here is the full system.

Which Fertilizer Should You Use?

Short answer
Quality Fertilizer II (gold)
→ upgrades your seeds one tier per harvest (bronze → silver → gold)
Quality Fertilizer I (silver)
→ budget option, cheaper, same idea
Peat
→ +1 seed per crop, no quality upgrade
Boost
→ growth speed only, does NOT change seeds

Apply order: Peat first → Quality second. Reversing it erases the effect.

How Seed Upgrades Actually Work

  1. Plant upgraded produce alongside Quality Fertilizer II
  2. Harvest: you receive upgraded seeds for the next tier instead of plain seeds
  3. Replant the upgraded seeds with Quality II and repeat
  4. One tier at a time — bronze + Quality II yields silver, never gold in a single jump

Application Order & Common Mistakes

This is the GK1-verified system and matches pre-launch community testing for GK2. If the launch build adjusts yields, the numbers here get re-stamped on Sep 22 — the mechanics above are what the 4K/month search question is actually asking.
