Graveyard Keeper 2 Body Prep & Surgery
Every corpse is a pile of skulls waiting to be sorted. Remove the right parts and a red-skull body becomes a white-skull asset worth burying or raising; remove the wrong ones and you destroy value permanently. Here is the full body-prep checklist.
What to Remove From a Body
- Remove: blood and fat. Both turn red skulls white with no downside. This is the first thing to do to every corpse.
- Remove: organs — conditionally. Brain, heart and intestine each roll between roughly -3 and +3 skulls, and the roll is fixed per corpse. Extract the bad ones; but see the Cultist note below before blindly cutting.
- Keep: flesh and skin. Removing flesh kills white skulls outright; removing skin flips white skulls to red. There is no scenario where stripping them helps.
- Dark organs: removing them clears reds — useful on corpses you intend to bury for rating.
Red vs White Skulls
- White skulls — bury them for graveyard rating; raise them into zombie efficiency (+2.5% each)
- Red skulls — burying them lowers your graveyard score; on a zombie they were harmless in GK1, but in GK2 the red skull count caps the zombie’s skill perks, so a corrupted corpse is now a permanently limited worker
- The two levers — blood/fat extraction and organ swaps — are the same two levers that mattered in GK1
Injections & Embalming Order
| Injection | Effect | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Preservation | Slows decay | First, on any corpse you are not processing immediately |
| Lye | +1 white | Any corpse you are preparing for burial or resurrection |
| Glue | +1 white | Same as lye — stack them |
| Silver | -1 red, +1 white | Corrupted corpses |
| Gold | -2 red, +2 white | The best available conversion — save it for keeper corpses |
Surgery Mistakes
Botched extractions apply Surgeon’s Mistakes, which subtract white skulls. In GK1 the permanent fix was stacking the Butcher and Surgeon perks and upgrading to Preparation Place II. If a corpse matters, do not operate without them.
Step-by-Step: Perfect Corpse
- Refrigerate or embalm on arrival so decay does not burn quality
- Extract blood and fat
- Extract and evaluate organs (with the Cultist perk) — swap in the +3 rolls
- Inject Preservation → Lye → Glue → Silver → Gold
- Decide the fate: bury for graveyard rating, or raise at the Resurrection Table
