Graveyard Keeper 2 Crafting Stations
Launch week’s biggest crafting searches — writing desk +450%, formulation bench +2,000%, distillation cube +1,050% — are all stations, and they are not interchangeable. Here is what each one does and which one you need next.
Writing Desk: The Science Station
The Writing Desk sits in the basement under your home (trapdoor in the back room, opened by the “Dust in the Kitchen” quest). It manufactures Science Kits — the only source of Science Points in the game, which is why the research page calls it the spine of the tech tree:
| Kit | Recipe | Yield |
|---|---|---|
| Science Kit I | 1 Alchemy Flask I + 5 Clean Paper + 1 Ink | 30 Science Points (Theology 2) |
| Science Kit II | 1 Alchemy Flask II + 1 Blank Softcover Notebook + 2 Ink | 60 Science Points (Astrologer 20 + Theology 4) |
- Kits decompose into Science Points at the Study Table in the Alchemy Lab — which unlocks when you first meet the Plague Doctor
- The paper chain: Leather Scroll → Clean Paper → Blank Softcover Notebook. Leather Scrolls are made at the Writing Desk from organs, which ties crafting directly to the sanity mechanic
- Ink gates all Writing Desk output — see alchemy for the ink chain
Formulation Bench: Anatomy Crafts
- Blueprint from the Theology tech tree; built in the Writing Basement (Writing Room category)
- The build costs Polished Bronze — the quest material everyone searched during demo week; see polished bronze
- Recipes require Anatomy mastery 1. Confirmed recipes: Tooth = 1 Skull (4 ticks, 2 energy + 0.2 insanity per tick, +1 red +1 blue tech point; skulls come from “Remove skull” at the Autopsy Table in the Morgue) and Corpse Injection = Melted Fat + Preservative (skill: Corpse Preservation III)
Distillation Cube: Refining Reagents
- Built in the Alchemy Lab (reached through the Inquisition Base), costing Planks + Wooden Beams + Flask Shelf parts
- Gated twice: the tech Alchemy Basic → Alchemy Distillation and the “Dust in the Kitchen” fairy quest that opens the cellar/alchemy content
- Confirmed recipe: Melted Fat = 1 Fat + 1 Pottery Bowl + 1 Fire — the corpse-injection ingredient; higher cube tiers raise the yield from 4 to 7 per batch
Flax & the Spinning Wheel
“Flachs” (flax) is a breakout German search: flax turns into Flax Yarn at a Spinning Wheel via the “Flax Yarn” skill in the Agriculture tech tree. The raw-flax gathering spot is still being verified against the launch build — flagged rather than guessed.
The Factory: Conveyors & Automation
- The late-game automation floor: Conveyor Chest I/II, Zombie Carousel, Assembly Workbench I–III, Forge I/II, Bioreactor, Kitchen I/II
- Large machines need construction level 4 plus a hammer; extensions slot directly into a compatible station without one
- Pair it with the zombie workforce — the factory is where assigned workers stop being porters and start running production lines
A Note on “Green Scroll” & Runes
“Green scroll” broke out at launch, but no green-scroll item has been documented in GK2 — what does exist is the rune-based alchemy system: ingredients carry red/blue/green rune values, only the summed values decide the output, and substitutes work. Water (well), sticks and ash are easy green-rune sources. Ingredients must be studied at the Study Table first, with a flask placed on the Flask Shelf — see alchemy.
