Graveyard Keeper 2 Cooking — Recipes, Kitchen & Fuel
Cooking turns farm produce into portable energy: a cooked meal restores about 40 Energy (44 with the Steamed Up buff, 36 after it expires) — far better than raw berries when you are away from home. Here is how to set up the kitchen, keep the oven fuelled and unlock the ~56 recipes. Last verified October 18, 2026.
How to Start Cooking
- Repair the Broken Oven (2 Pieces of Stone) and the Broken Kitchen Table (6 Wooden Planks) — both are inside your house, on the left side of the room.
- Pieces of Stone: craft at the Stonemason’s Workbench from Stone and Wood Wedges. Stone comes from boulders with a pickaxe.
- Wood Wedges: made at a Chopping Spot from a Short Log (1 Short Log = 10 Wood Wedges). Get Short Logs by chopping a tree and digging up the stump.
- Wooden Planks: craft at Woodworking Workbench I from Boards (1 Board = 1 Plank); Boards are made at the Sawhorse from Logs.
Kitchen Table vs Oven
- Kitchen Table: cold preparation — dough, smoothies, fish fillets, processed meat/fish and quality upgrades.
- Oven: hot meals and cooking raw meat/fish. Every oven recipe costs Fuel.
Oven Fuel
Build the Firewood Shed for fuel production: Firewood is made at the Chopping Spot from Short Logs (1 Short Log = 10 Firewood), and the shed converts Firewood into Oven Fuel (2 Firewood → 20 Fuel). No Fuel, no oven recipes.

How Recipes Unlock
- Repairing the kitchen reveals the first cooking tech entries (First Snacks, First Dishes).
- Most later recipes unlock through the Tech Tree — invest in the Building/cooking research lines.
- Some recipes are purchased from vendors.
- NPC quests unlock a few — e.g. bringing fish to Herm can unlock Baked Fish and other fish recipes.
